Last weekend I took my first mini-vacation to a place I had extremely high expectations for...and thankfully they were all exceeded! Mendoza, Argentina is Argentina's wine country, located in the western part of the country, and sits at the bottom of the Andes mountains (aka beautiful panaromic views). After our thirteen hour bus ride, we made our way to our charming Bed & Breakfast, Plaza Italia B&B. We were welcomed by the owners Mercedes and Tito, who sat us down, gave us suggestions for our next three days, and made reservations for us to go wine tasting and horseback riding (highly recommded if you need a place to stay and great location!). My friend Emily and I were quite hungry after our long journey so headed to one of Mercede's suggestions for lunch, El Mercadito (nom!). If you don't believe me, look at this delicious salad...
After lunch, Sam, Emily, and I took a bus tour of Parque General San Martín, a huge park, where we were driven to a monument at the top with beautiful views of the city and mountains...WOW!After the tour, while we were walking around exploring Plaza Independencia, the main plaza in the city of Mendoza, we stumbled across this Menorah and monument for Israel:
Just goes to show, wherever you go, there´s always someone Jewish...
Our first day in Mendoza ended with a delicious dinner and some Mendozian wine at another of Mercedes' recommendations, the restaurant Anna's Bistro.
