About Me

Hola/שלום/Hi! My name is Kate and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A little about me: I graduated from UVA (go hoos!) in May 2013 with a degree in Religious Studies and a Leadership Minor, and am now living and working in Argentina for the year (family lives in Richmond, VA).
I am an Entwine Global Jewish Service Corp Fellow and while my job description is constantly changing, half of my time is spent at the JDC offices in Buenos Aires collaborating on a variety of community development programs and the other half is spent at Hebraica creating educational and leadership programming for teens as a BBYO Fellow.
How did I end up here? My first experience with JDC Entwine was a short-term service trip to Nahariya, Israel; and since then I have had the opportunity to volunteer and learn about the Jewish communities of Kiev, Ukraine; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Riga, Latvia; and Barcelona, Spain. Through these adventures, I have met many previous fellows whose lives have been touched by their time abroad and have seen first-hand the work JDC is doing around the world (I wanted to be a greater part of it).
I am fascinated by Jewish diaspora communities and organizational structures and love learning as much about them as possible! Last year while thinking about what I wanted to do after graduation, the only natural step for me was to apply to this amazing fellowship and spend a year absorbing all I could about a global Jewish community and lending a hand where needed.
I will be communicating stories and adventures in this blog. Please join me, and as they say in Argentina, "¡Bienvenidos!", Welcome!
